At least six people are now known to have died in an explosion that caused an apartment block to partially collapse in the French capital.

A mother and her two teenage children were among the dead.

Rescue workers also found an unconscious 80-year-old woman who died while being pulled from the rubble.

Emergency workers have pulled 11 people alive from the rubble of the building. Four of those were seriously injured.

Rescuers believe two other people may be trapped under the debris.

The explosion completely ripped off one side of the building exposing what remains of many destroyed homes in the Paris suburb of Rosny-sous-Bois.

As rescue efforts continue, an investigation into the blast has begun. It is thought to have been sparked by a gas leak.
