Efforts are being stepped up to try and free four more American journalists being held in Syria following the release after two years of Peter Curtis.
Qatari diplomacy helped in his release, with the official al-Qaeda affiliate in the country, the Nusra Front, freeing him just days
after rival Islamic State butchered James Foley.
In Boston, Curtis’s home, his mother, while overjoyed, can only think of another mother, James Foley’s.
“The first thing I did before I even told my daughter, I sat down and I sent an email to Diane Foley. We’ve been through so much together and I didn’t want her to hear it from the media first.”
“Do you know what you’ll say to him?”
Curtis: “I’ll give him a big hug and I’ll probably cry.”
