At the MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus showed the world her soft side. When it was announced she landed the video of the year award for ‘Wrecking Ball’, she decided to let someone else accept the honor.
Instead of walking on stage, she allowed her date, who is a former homeless teen, to do it for her. After he stepped on the platform next to Jimmy Fallon, he introduced himself as Jesse.
Fom there, he said “I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now. I know this because I am one of these people.”
Jesse chronicled his struggles living on the street and asked fans to visit Cyrus’ Facebook page where they’ll be able to donate funds to a homeless shelter in Hollywood called My Friend’s Place.
Cyrus also posted a video to promote the launch of her campaign. In it, she asks her fans to help her raise money for My Friend’s Place.
