Four new lion cubs were recently born in eastern Germany. Of course the babies are absolutely adorable but they’re also very rare, as all four are white.

The creatures aren’t albinos, but their parents, 11-year-old King Tonga and 7-year-old Princess both carry a gene that results in white fur.

There are several hundred white lions in zoos and circuses around the world. Only a few known white lions live in the wild today.

The cubs belong to the touring Circus Krone, which is based out of Munich. They don’t have names yet, as the lion-tamer wants to observe them in the upcoming weeks to see their character.

The cubs, three males and one female, won’t be seen in the circus for quite awhile. They will spend some time bonding with their mother before training begins.

It’s a long process that could take years. Dad, King Tonga now has children by two different moms.

In 2012, six cubs were born to Princess and King Tonga. Earlier this year, in April, another one of his babies greeted the world. Its mom is a different white lioness named Diamond.
