Ireland is to review the decision taken by a panel which refused a young woman an abortion despite her claiming to be suicidal following an alleged rape.
Under new legislation the woman could have had a termination but three medical experts ruled against it.
The woman went on to have her baby delivered prematurely by caesarian section.
Ireland’s Minster for Education Jan O’Sullivan said there was concern about the issue particularly when a mother has to carry a foetus that is not going to survive outside the womb.
