Independence Day is being celebrated throughout Pakistan on 14th August with great splendor, joy and respect for the motherland.
The day started with thirty-one gun salute in federal capital and twenty-one gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered at mosques for peace and prosperity of the country.
The main flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Presidency in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hoisted the national flag. Federal ministers, services chiefs and other senior civil and military officials attended the event.
