Commonly known as the "Wild Boar", the Indian wild pig (Sus scrofa cristatus ) is the wild ancestor of the domestic pig with which it freely hybridises. They are the resilient animals and being a fast breeding animal, the wild boar is one of the most widely distributed. When cornered, they are tenacious and can attack even large predators like the Tiger and Leopard.

The most distinguishing feature of the wild boar is a pair of extended canines. These canines can grow outward as well as upward. The posses an acute sense of smell, strong eyesight and hearing power.
Wild boar almost eat anything and everything including their own offspring! They eat nut, roots, berries insects, reptiles, even lambs and young deer!

Wild boar are found in the woodlands of central Europe, Mediterranean Region (including North Africa's Atlas Mountains) and most of Asia (including India).
