Polo is played in teams and on horseback in which the main objective is to score maximum goals against the opposing team. Also called as "The Sport of Kings", it was brought to India by the British. The players are supposed to drive a small white ball made of plastic or wood into the opposing team's goal using a long mallet. Traditionally polo is played on a large plain field of grass up to 300 yards. Each polo team is made of four riders and their mounts. This is unlike Arena polo which has only three players per team with shorter plays at lower speeds due to limited space. Modern polo is played on horses. Polo is not an Olympic sport although it is professionally played in sixteen countries.
