Stunning motorcycle stunts by the Jawans of the Indian Army on Republic Day.

26th January 1950 - One of the most important dates in the history of India, on this day the constitution of India came into force and India became republic. The father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi and numerous freedom fighters struggled for our independence for years.
India became a free country on 15th August 1947 but had no permanent constitution, at that time the laws were based on the modified colonial government of India Act 1935. The Drafting Committee was appointed to draft a permanent constitution On 28 August 1947 with Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar as chairman. While India's Independence Day celebrates its freedom from British Rule, the Republic Day celebrates the coming into force of its constitution.
A draft constitution was prepared by the committee and submitted to the Assembly on 4 November 1947. On 24 January 1950, the 308 members of the Assembly signed two hand written copies of the document in both Hindi and English. Two days later, the Constitution of India became the law of all the Indian lands. The Republic Day is one of the three national holidays India. Today this day is celebrated all over the country and especially in the capital New Delhi with passion. The celebrations start with the President's speech to the nation and the remembrance of the brave martyrs and freedom fighters. Later the President awards medals of bravery to the people from the armed forces for their outstanding courage in the field and also to the civilians who portrayed true heroism in rough situations.

Every year a grand parade is held in New Delhi, from the Rajghat, along the Vijaypath. Different regiments form the Indian Army, Navy and Air force march past all their best uniforms and official decorations. It is an honor for cadets and school children to take part in this event. It takes days of practice for the drills, the essential props and impressive uniforms to make this event come alive. After the parade, people from all over the country represent their states in a pageant of spectacular display. Moving exhibits portray scenes of activities of people in those states and the music and songs of that particular state accompany each display. The parade and the ensuing pageantry are viewed by millions of viewers all over the country on the National Television. The patriotic fervor of the people on this day brings the whole country together even in her essential diversity.
