Frisky Pints, Mizoram band rocking the stage at Ziro Music Festival, Arunchal Pradesh.
Frisky Pints started when Joseph and Danny met in Camden Town, London in 2010. Armed with a dream of making a band and sharing their love of music with the rest of the world, they returned to India to meet up with friends and now fellow band mates Anggu and Valentino and hence officially started Frisky Pints. The name 'Frisky Pints' comes from their love of having fun together and their love for their drinks. The band members originally hail from Mizoram, but currently consider New Delhi their home.
Since 2010, the band has played at various venues across India like Attitude, Hard rock Café, The Recycle pub with the international band Junoon as well as various festivals like 'Ziro festival of music', Arunachal Pradesh alongside artists like Menwhopause, Bombay Bassment, Sky Rabbit etc.
The band has also won various competitions like NIT Jaipur, Ragnarock competition, the Corna battle of the bands at IITM, Gwalior where they also won the best vocalist and best drummer awards. They also reached the finals of the IIT Kanpur music competition. The band has played at charity concerts like 7 --Sisters rock festival, Voice of North East India and at the North East Junction food festival in Dilli Haat.
Recently the band participated in the competition ' Hard Rock Rising', which is a global battle of the bands taking place at all Hard Rock outlets from Las Vegas to Tokyo. The band impressively stormed through the national level competition as well as the online voting system and reached the 'Top 25 bands' Worldwide category, one of the first Indian bands to reach this level. They were also recently handpicked by Uday Benegal (Indus Creed) to jam with him on MTV as part of the Rayban MTV never hides sounds series. With success on the rise; Frisky Pints is all set to release their debut album by the end of 2013.
Ziro is situated in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, 167 kms from the capital Itanagar. It can be reached via road from Guwahati or Dibrugarh towns in Assam.
A spectacular location, open air gigs, campfires, tents and living in the outdoors amidst picturesque landscapes are just some of the things that wait to refresh your mind at Ziro. Artistes from across the country met likeminded individuals hailing from different parts of the globe. Last year, the festival saw over 150 musicians, artists, and creative minds be a part of this cultural celebration.
This year, Ziro Festival of Music's second edition saw a great curated line-up of musicians such as Whirling Kalapas from Mumbai, Lee Ranaldo and Stevel Shelley from USA, Menwhopause from Delhi, Sky Rabbit from Mumbai, Imphal Talkies from Imphal, Dosser's Urge from Shillong, Shaair + Func from Mumbai, Yesterdrive from Arunachal and many more.
Just 167km from the capital, Itanagar, Ziro is one of the oldest towns in Arunachal Pradesh. Situated in a valley, it is at a height of over 5500 feet above sea level, with a beautiful view of the mountains that surround it.
Ziro is primarily home to the Apatanis -- simple, friendly and hospitable people with an interesting culture and legacy. They are a non-nomadic, agrarian tribe who share a responsible relationship with nature. Apatanis cultivate permanent wet land cultivations instead of dry land cultivations which involves burning forests. Ziro valley is lush with paddy farms and is known for its unique paddy cum fi sh cultivation where using traditional irrigation methods, farmers rear fish in the knee-deep water. Keeping them company are the adorable, shy, and harmless Indian Bisons.
