A Griffon Vulture in Imphal zoo

2014-08-12 7

Vultures normally don't kill their prey unless they are weak and at the point of death, because they are principally scavengers.

Manipur Zoological Garden or simply Imphal Zoo is situated around 6km from the main city. It is at Iroishemba, along the Imphal-Kangchup Road. The zoo is between a small hillock covered with pine trees and a vast open paddy field. The Imphal Zoo is best known for showcasing animals endemic to the state; some of which are considered rare and endangered. It is also known as the 'Jewel Box' of Manipur.
