Old fashioned train signalling system in use in India

2014-08-12 21

Manual train signal and arrival confirmation system in place, over the railway phone line between stations in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Railway level crossing in Uttar Pradesh. A train is coming from Mansurpur, he is told on the railway trunk system.

Viewer Sachin Perinthalakkat writes: "This seems to be on a railway line which is not part of the so called main line, or trunk routes. The magneto phone (with the handle etc.) seems to be newer model. I have seen older ones (with bells, instead of electronic beeps). The signal man/gate keeper seems to be taking down the arrival of a train. Most likely the gate would be non-interlocked."
