Over the Himalaya : best of HD aerials

2014-08-12 1

Fly over Everest, Makalu, Jhomolhari / Chomolhari, Kanchenjunga and more - see the highest peaks in the world from this picture perfect aerial footage collection, shot from 35, 000 feet in the air, on a crisp and clear winter day, as our Wilderness Films India team flew across the Himalaya to get you this stunning footage!

That black peak dominating the landscape, with mostly rock on it, is Sagamartha or Chomolongma - in common parlance - Everest!

This is first time ever coverage of such clarity and crispness - experience the Himalaya up close and personal in 2K HD, without the wind and the cold. Look across the Tibetan plateau to Shishapangma and the ranges beyond, as well!

At 0:12, you can see Makalu.

At 0:26, you can see Pumori which in Nepalese means 'My daughter'. You can also see the edge of Chang Tse.

At 0:41, to the slight left lies Lhotse and to the slight right lies Lhotse shar. Shar means south and so the word sherpas or sharpas came from shar meaning people of the south.

At 0:52, you can see Makalu again.

Then at 2:52, you can see Siniolchu.

At 4:21 you see Lhotse and Lhotse shar again. To the left lies Nuptse and behind Nuptse is Changtse. To the front left is Ama Dablam and before this peak lies Kangtega.

At 4:51, in the middle lies Thamserku with Kangtega to the right and Ama Dablam all in a row. Then at the top range in the middle is Gyanchung Kang and Pumori lurking somewhere in the centre. Kangtega translates into saddle, in Tibetan.

Then at 5:32, lies Pumori to the left of Mt. Everest and Cho Oyu further to the left and Gyanchung Kang to the immediate left of Everest.

At 5:57, we suspect lies Gauri Shankar. Do confirm if you are sure of this and let us know!

Then, at 7:03 is Manaslu.

At 8:53 are Jannu, Pandim and Kabru in a line.
