Indian Kathak Maestro Shovana Narayan performing a short sequence from the life of Buddha at Act Fusion Charity Concert called Sufiaana in Chinmaya Auditorium, Delhi.

-Buddha goes to town as a young prince, when he decides to see old man the Laper and he is filled with despair. He decides to seek enlightenment by renouncing his home. He leaves his home in the middle of the night and goes into the forest. When Yashodhara, his wife gets up in the morning and sees that Sidhartha is not there. She looks for him in vain and finally tells her friend. if only he had confided in me before going after all I am the wife of a Rajput and it is my duty to adorn him, give him his sword and send to the battle field. My friend if I can do that as my duty... Don't you think that I would have allowed him to go for meditation. Why didn't he confide in me....

...Years pass and one day she hears that Buddha is returning to town. When she sees him at her doorstep she is elated, her joy knows no bounds. She greets him with open arm but Buddha stands before her not as a husband but as a holy man seeking arms. When Yashodhara sees that she is dismayed and she says "when you left home I lost everything. What is that I can give you as alms.. Wait! I have someone who is dearer to me than my life and that is our son Rahul." She calls Rahul and donates him to his father...
