Botswana, known for its church choirs nationwide, is an African country. Music is an important part of people's lives and the culture of Botswana. There is a gracious existence of traditional folk and modern music in the music industry. Botswana society is expressed best by way of its music and dance. Music is one of the essential components in the life of Botswana society because of which music education is compulsory and added in the Botswana educational system. Children of all ages are taught traditional songs and dances.

Indigenous Botswana music (Tswana folk music) is predominantly vocal accompanied by a clapping of hands to produce a muffled rhythmic sound at the pace of a heartbeat. But it has been modernized by introducing modern beats and an increased tempo.
Traditional folk music uses string instruments like Segaba, Segankure and Setinkane. Renowned local artists like George Swabi and Kwata-E-Shele use the string instruments to produce unbelievably sweet sounding melodies.
The modern music produced in Botswana, which is extremely popular, comes from South Africa, United States, Europe and other parts of Africa.
The Kalahari Desert is located inside the larger Kalahari Basin in sub-Saharan Africa. Kalahari covers most of Botswana, and parts of Namibia, Angola, Zambia, and South Africa. The Kalahari Delta is a large semi-arid sandy savannah in southern Africa extending 900,000 square kilometres. A semi-desert, with huge tracts of excellent grazing after good rains, the Kalahari supports more animals and plants than a true desert, such as the Namib Desert to the west. There are small amounts of rainfall and the summer temperature is very high. The surrounding Kalahari Basin covers over 2,500,000 square kilometres (970,000 sq mi) extending farther into Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, and encroaching into parts of Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Kalahari is home to many migratory birds and animals. Previously havens for wild animals from elephants to giraffes, and for predators such as lions and cheetahs the riverbeds are now mostly grazing spots, though leopards and cheetahs can still be found. The area is now heavily grazed and cattle fences restrict the movement of wildlife. Among deserts of the southern hemisphere the Kalahari most closely resembles some Australian deserts in its latitude and its mode of formation.
The Okavango Delta in Botswana is a very large inland delta formed where the Okavango River reaches a tectonic trough in the central part of the endorheic basin of the Kalahari. All the water reaching the Delta is ultimately evaporated and transpired, and does not flow into any sea or ocean. Each year approximately 11 cubic kilometres of water spreads over the 6,000-15,000-km² areas. Some floodwaters drain into Lake Ngami. The Moremi Game Reserve is a National Park on the eastern side of the Delta. This statistical significance helped the Okavango Delta secure a position as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, which were officially declared on February 11, 2013 in Arusha, Tanzania.
The area was once part of Lake Makgadikgadi, an ancient lake that mostly dried up by the early Holocene. Although the Okavango Delta is widely believed to be the world's largest inland delta, it is not. In Africa alone there are two larger similar geological features: the Sudd on the Nile in South Sudan, and the Inner Niger Delta in Mali.
