A young man use the Swajal water vending machine to fill bottles of pure drinking water. This centre is based in Mulhahera, Gurgaon.

Swajal is an attempt to provide people with pure water in the villages and illegal settlements in India. In a country where water is a rare commodity, Advait Kumar noticed the lack of access laborers have to drinking water. In designing the Swajal vending machine, it solves two problems: power cuts and access to drinking water, thus even with the grid not being operational, purified water can still be available. The Swajal vending machine is engineered to use solar power, to cleanse contaminated water by putting it through various cleaning processes. It dispenses cold or normal water at the push of a button for only the fraction of the costs of bottled water. These, also not always the safest option. Swajal vending machines is currently available in four villages in the Delhi/ NCR area: Bijwasan, Dundahera, Mulhahera and Kapasera.
