Portuguese police have launched an investigation, but they believe the couple had been posing for pictures on the cliffs with their children when they fell to their deaths.
The children have reportedly seen psychologists to help them deal with the trauma.
Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene after the couple fell. Poor weather conditions on the Atlantic Ocean caused officials to halt the search for the bodies on Saturday night.
However, the couples’ remains were recovered the following day when the search resumed. The family reportedly crossed a safety barrier to get to the cliff edge.
The cliffs at Cabo da Roca are a popular destination among tourists. The area is known for having strong winds and stormy weather. That often leaves the ground slippery.
