A grandmother in Springfield, Florida was arrested for animal cruelty after posting a troubling photo of a dog to Facebook. The picture depicts two young girls in a car who are holding a jump rope that was secured to the canine.

The rope had been attached to the animal’s hind quarters and tied to a clothes hanging latch. The children used it as a makeshift pulley system.

Once the photo hit social media, it was reported to Bay County Animal Control before being sent to the Springfield Police Department. The grandmother of the two girls was identified as Loretta Bozeman.

She has been cited with a ‘misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals’ for sharing the photo online. In addition to that, Bozeman and her entire family have received approximately 500 death threats from social media users.

The dog has been seized by animal control along with another canine that was in the home. The family is claiming the girls were reenacting an animal rescue they saw on TV.
