Israeli troops at the border of Gaza prepared for the night. The new 72-hour truce appeared to be holding.

Israeli and Palestinian negotiators resumed indirect talks in Cairo... on ending the month-old war.

In Khan Younis, Gaza, relatives cried over the body of Ihsan el Agha... one of nine Palestinians killed in Israeli air strikes and shelling on Sunday.

In Jerusalem, residents didn't think the ceasefire would last.

"I think until people start talking and stop being violent they won't do anything. But hopefully they will work, it's a hard situation."

A month of war has killed 1,938 Palestinians and 67 Israelis while devastating wide tracts of densely populated Gaza. Egypt's Foreign Ministry is urging both sides to work towards "a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire agreement".
