Unfortunately, I found very little information about this band. According to the Redhotjazz website, Bernie Schultz and his Crescent Orchestra were from Davenport, Iowa and were active between 1923 and 1928. The band had a weekly show on W.O.C. radio named in honor of their sponsor the Crescent Cracker and Macaroni Company. The band played at engagements within a 200 mile radius of Davenport. Their records are a lot of fun. Stylistically, they are reminiscent of Waring's Pennsylvanians, but the instrumentation is much hotter. This particular side was recorded in 1927. The vocal is by uncredited band members. Personnel included: Eddie Anderson, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone; Johnny Day, Drums; Fred Hackett, Trumpet; George Halligan, Banjo, Guitar; Omar Hoagland, Tenor Saxophone; Harry LaRue, Trumpet, Willard Neuwerk, Piano; Bernie Schultz, Trumpet, Violin, Vocals; Paul Tisher, Saxophones, Piano, as well as Al Waffle, Bass Brass.
