Liberia’s army has quarantined a third province because of the Ebola epidemic.

Lofa, in northern Liberia, joins Bomi and Grand Cape Mount, which have already been quarantined.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that more than 1,000 people have died during the Ebola outbreak, which it described as an “international health emergency”.

Cases of Ebola have been reported in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.

There is currently no cure or vaccine for Ebola.

A meeting of the WHO was held in Geneva on Monday (August 11) to discuss new treatments for the deadly virus.

It came after two US aid workers showed improvement after being treated with experimental drug ZMapp last week.
