A one-week-old elephant arrived at a wildlife trust in Kenya on August 7 after wandering off with a herd of cows. The elephant had followed the cows, thinking they were its family, into the remote Ndoto Mountains. The tribesmen herding the cows eventually got word to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, who chartered a helicopter to rescue the elephant and take it to the trust’s Nairobi nursery.
The youngster was named ‘Ndotto’ after his place of rescue and is now being nursed back to health by elephant keepers at the DSWT. Credit: YouTube/David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
