A New Jersey police officer was caught on video telling an area resident that as President Obama doesn’t abide by the Constitution, he shouldn’t have to either.
The incident leading to the comment began when Officer Richard Recine approached Steve Wronko who was taking pictures inside of a municipal building.
After being approached by Recine, Wronko said it was his constitutional right to document public spaces.
That’s when the officer said, "Obama has decimated the friggin' constitution, so I don't give a damn. Because if he doesn't follow the Constitution we don't have to."
Recine made capturing the words easy, as he said directly into the camera, “Yeah did you get that?” and repeated what he’d just said.
The police director has called the officer’s comments embarrassing and uncalled for.
An investigation is taking place, but officials don’t believe it will take long as all of the evidence is in one convenient place.
Recine is currently employed by the department as a part-time special officer. He retired from full duty in 2006.
