As the world continues to reel from the downing of flight MH17 in Ukraine, a service has been held in the Australian city of Perth to remember three young children and their grandfather, who lost their lives in the tragedy.
Around 1,000 people attended the service, where the children’s bereaved mother Rin Morris paid an emotional tribute:
“When their innocent bodies were shot out of the sky, I stretched my arms as high as I could and screamed for them,” she said.
Her words are likely to resonate with many more. In all, 28 Australians lost their lives in the downing of the plane.
The Boeing 777 was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down over Ukrainian airspace, killing all 298 people on board.
