In the initiation of the debate on the secondary energy laws in the Mexican congress, the oil industry has played a big role. The state company Mexican Petrol (PEMEX) daily produces 2.13 million barrels of oil and in 2013 its profits were 12 billion dollars, which, if the new laws are approved, will be shared with private companies.
