Six students who survived a ferry disaster in South Korea have given evidence in the trial of crew members implicated in the deaths of more than 300 people.

They described how the crew told them to stay in their cabins, even as the ferry sank and water came in, but that their classmates helped them float free.

The 15 crew members face charges ranging from homicide to negligence for abandoning the sinking ship in April.
