The fighting has also taken a heavy toll on civilian lives.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT FROM SHEJAIA AREA WHICH WAS SHELLED BY ISRAELI ARMY, UNKNOWN, SAYING:
"We are residents sleeping at home, we are at home, civilians. We are not pro-Hamas or pro-Fatah or even pro-Israel, we are poor people sleeping at home with children, women and old people. All the shells were randomly fired and at least each house got 10 shells, more than 1000 shells were fired at Shejaia."
