People seeking an especially slimy kind of fun during the summer visited the opening day of a popular mud festival in a South Korean coastal city this week.

Visitors flocked to Boryeong, South-west of Seoul, to get messy at the city’s 17th annual Mud Festival, which started on Friday (July 18).

Last year’s edition of the festival attracted more than three million people, according to event organisers.

The festival will continue until July 27.
