A mysterious hole in Siberia is baffling locals and people around the world. The opening appeared suddenly without much warning.
It’s located in the Yamal Peninsula - the name translates to the ‘end of the world’. Experts estimate the width of hole to be about 260 feet, but the depth is not known.
No one is quite sure yet what caused the hole to form, but thus far speculations range from global warming to a meteorite or even a sinkhole.
The crater is dark in color which may indicate temperature processes or burning that touched the edges of the hole. Basically, everyone is wondering what the mysterious opening is and most importantly how it came about.
Out of all the conspiracy theories, the one most likely has to do with climate change. In that hypothesis, global warming caused an underground explosion from melting ice which would have caused gas-filled ice, sand, and salt to mix together.
