A UK judge recently ruled that a waiter was entitled to half of his boss’s lottery winnings, as, among other factors, he had dreamt about the prize money before it happened.

Fatih Ozcan, the employee, explained to the judge that in January of 2012 he had a dream in which he was holding a lot of money and standing in front of his employer.

He interpreted it as a sign that they should play the lottery together, and was so confident it would result in riches for both of them, hounded his boss for three hours the next day.

Ozcan said he’s the one who went to get the ticket, but they both picked numbers and split the cost of the entry.

His boss told a different version of events, one that justified his decision to keep all of the money.

Luckily for Ozcan the judge didn’t believe that the waiter would have been so insistent about buying the ticket if there was no personal payoff for doing so.

The fact that video surveillance footage from the restaurant showed the two of them filling out the ticket together didn’t hurt the waiter’s claim either.
