Swimmers in Siberia recently got an unpleasant shock. Beach goers were forced to flee from the water and run for cover after a freak hail storm broke out.

A hot summer’s day makes swimming and relaxing by the water an inviting proposition.

However, swimmers in Siberia recently got an unpleasant shock and were forced to flee from the water and run for cover after a freak hail storm broke out along the Ob River.

The unanticipated weather occurred after several days of steady 90 degree temperatures. During the heat wave, residents in Novosibirsk and surrounding areas flocked to local waterways.

On Saturday, however, a cold front caused thunderstorms to break out in the area.

Swimmers in the Ob River scurried towards the sand and grabbed towels or anything they could get their hands on to shield themselves from the hail.

Unfortunately, there are no buildings on the beach, so swimmers didn't have a nearby place to seek shelter and escape the storm. Reportedly, several people on the beach were injured as a result, but none were seriously hurt.
