John Kerry, the US secretary of state, is in Afghanistan to help resolve the disputed presidential election. He has described the situation as a "critical moment for Afghanistan". Early results show Ashraf Ghani, a former finance minister, in the lead, but his opponent Abdullah Abdullah, a former foreign minister, says the vote was rigged.
