Bosnia Srebrenica- As anniversary nears, relatives still await recovery of remains of victims

The families of hundreds of victims of the Srebrenica massacre in Bosnia have refused to bury them in a mass funeral on the anniversary of the killings because only one or two of their bones have been found.

More than eight thousand Muslim men and boys were killed when Serb forces overran the town of Srebrenica on 11 July, 1995. Their remains are being gradually found in mass graves and buried every anniversary of the brutal bloodshed.

Finding and identifying the remains of the victims is no easy feat – the perpetrators of Europe’s worst massacre since World War II mixed up the bones when they reburied the victims, to hide the crimes.
