Gunship helicopters bombarded militant hideouts in upper parts of Gilgit- Diamir on Tuesday.
According to sources, two suspected militants were arrested and several of their hideouts were also destroyed in the assault.
The targeted operation came a day after an attack on a police station in Tadshal and got free several prisoners.
On Friday, at least 40 militants wearing military fatigues entered the police station and held the staff hostage and trussed them up with ropes. The sources said that the militants fled the station with police arms, ammunition and police uniforms.
Last year, gunmen killed 11 people including nine foreign tourists and two Pakistanis late at Nanga Parbat tourists’ Base camp.
Later, the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility of the attack.
