Rio de Janeiro, Jul 8 (EFE), (Camera: Juan Yagüe).- Brazilian police have arrested British Match Hospitality CEO Raymond Whelan accused of illegal World Cup tickets sale.
Whelan was arrested at the luxurious Copacabana Palace Hotel on Monday and taken to a police station in the south of Rio de Janeiro. The police told EFE they found nearly 100 World Cup tickets in the Briton's room.
Match Hospitality's CEO is accused of being behind an international World Cup tickets resale gang, according to EFE's official sources. The police had been working on the "Jules Rimet" operation after last week's arrest of 11 people who were reselling tickets FIFA had destined to confederations, national teams and enterprises.
