The Indian government is trying to find ways to rehabilitate those Hindu Kashmiri Pandits who want to come home more than twenty years after the uprising that led them to flee the area.

In the 1990s, at the height of a violent uprising, thousands of people left the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

By choice, some travelled across the border to Pakistan to train as fighters and others, like Hindu Kashmiri Pandits, fled their homes fearing attack.

Al Jazeera's Nidhi Dutt reports from Srinagar, the capital of Indian administered Kashmir.
