It's best to avoid a bear when you see one.

But a 6-month-old black bear cub in Ringwood, New Jersey recently required a little human help after getting his head stuck in a jar. The 28-pound animal had gotten himself in quite a bit of trouble.

On top of getting the clear cookie jar stuck around his head, the bear was also wedged about 40 feet up a tree. A spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Protection elaborated on the bear’s ordeal stating “He was trying to eat what remained in the jar and pulled the jar over his head. He got spooked and went up into the tree.”

The container was described as an ‘oversized animal cracker jar.’ Rescuers think the curious bear found the jar in a neighbor's trash can, as rubbish was found at the scene.

A bucket truck was used to allow rescuers to reach the bear, while the ground-based crews set up netting in case he fell. Luckily, everything worked out fine.

The animal was tranquilized before the cookie jar was delicately cut off. Once he came to, rescuers gave him water for hydration.
