Prince Harry will be getting quite a bit wealthier in the next few months. On his 30th birthday, he’s set to receive $17 million.
Prince Harry will be getting quite a bit wealthier in the next few months. He’s scheduled to receive the equivalent of about 17 million dollars when he turns 30 on September 15th.
The money is an inheritance from his late mother, Diana. Not all the cash will go straight into Prince Harry’s pocket however. He’ll reportedly have to pay a 40 percent estate tax which equates to a little under $7 million.
Some of that money can be saved if he donates a portion to charity. A royal source commented "William got hit with a hefty bill when he turned 30 and so will Harry. His aides have to work out the most tax-efficient way for him to handle the money."
Diana left her boys approximately $22 million, which she obtained following her divorce from Prince Charles. Through investments, the fund for Harry and William increased about 40 percent.
Prince William was also forced to wait until he turned 30 to receive his cut. For Harry, the inheritance comes at a good time. He currently makes roughly $66,000 a year, working as an army captain.
