Facebook has joined Google, Yahoo and LinkedIN in revealing hiring numbers that show Silicon Valley is overwhelmingly male and overwhelmingly white or Asian. Cultural critics bemoan the tech industry's lack of blacks, Hispanics and women among its ranks. The subtext is Silicon Valley is sexiest and racist.
Hey, since when did Asians become a privileged class? Are Asians the new whites?
Asians are over-represented in tech because they study hard. If you want a more diverse Silicon Valley, then OTHER minorities need to be encouraged to study STEM degrees.
Numbers from the tech giants also show that Asians are under-represented at the management level. Perhaps this is because not enough Asians study to become douchebag MBA wonks.
