George H.W. Bush has been called upon to judge a sock contest being held at his namesake library in Texas.

The competition is being held in honor of the former president’s 90th birthday, but that probably isn’t the only reason they asked him to weigh in on the winners.

He’s actually quite a sock expert.

According to his son, Jeb, the man, “must have, like, 500 pair of socks.”

President Bush has been out and about wearing every imaginable kind including pairs with stripes, Superman emblems, and cacti.

Last year, he even sported a mismatched pair, one being bright argyle and the other having polka dots.

Clearly, the bar for title hopefuls has been set pretty high.

Those wanting to participate can download the template at happybirthday41.com.

Tech-savvy people are welcome to design and submit their sock right online.

Artsy individuals are invited to print out the template, color and decorate it, and mail it in.

Entries will be accepted until August 31st. Once they’ve all been gathered, President Bush will pick his favorites.

Finalists’ work will be displayed at the library.
