EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has chaired a meeting of the Visigrad Four group of member states, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. He handed over the group’s presidency from Hungary to Slovakia.
Ukraine and Energy topped the list of subjects for discussion.
“Ongoing discussions between Russia and Ukraine on energy supply have also reminded us of the need to have an effective European energy strategy,” said Barroso.
“If today’s regulation of energy prices lead to high European energy costs, then we need regulations, even state regulations, that make energy cheap,” said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
