Former Rupert Murdoch protégée Rebekah Brooks was acquitted of organizing a campaign to hack into phones and bribe officials for news exclusives.
A jury cleared the former head of Murdoch's British newspaper division of all charges. Her colleague, Andy Coulson, a former news editor and one time media chief for Prime Minister David Cameron was found guilty of conspiring to hack into phones.
Cameron had this to say about the verdict.
SOUNDBITE: British Prime Minister David Cameron saying:
"Well, I take full responsibility for employing Andy Coulson. I did so on the basis of undertakings I was given by him about phone hacking and those turn out not to be the case. I always said that if they turned out to be wrong, I would make a full and frank apology and I do that today. I'm extremely sorry that I employed him. It was the wrong decision and I'm very clear about that."
