Thomas Koron - On This Bed of Roses

2014-06-24 14

On this bed of roses my teardrops fall,
As clouds begin to darken in the sky,
And vines have grown across the garden’s wall.

A bird in the trees makes one final call—
I hear the wind let out a gentle sigh,
On this bed of roses my teardrops fall.

This storm is about to ravage them all—
The rain begins to drench me as I cry,
And vines have grown across the garden’s wall.

Looking at the roses, I now recall
An innocent time forever gone by—
On this bed of roses my teardrops fall.

There once had been twenty rosebuds in all—
I wipe yet another tear from my eye,
And vines have grown across the garden’s wall.

I once had dreams they’d grow so very tall,
But now, their pedals wither where they lie.
On this bed of roses my teardrops fall,
And vines have grown across the garden’s wall.
