The recent brutal ISIS attacks in Iraq have stunned the world.

According to the Daily Mail, there are unconfirmed reports from news sources in the Middle East that the Iraqi judge Raouf Abdel-Rahman, who sentenced Saddam Hussein to death, has been captured and executed by the radical militant group known as ISIS.

Although the Iraqi government hasn’t made any official comments about the whereabouts of the judge, they did not deny that he had been arrested.

Judge Rahman acted as the replacement judge in the 2006 case against Saddam Hussein, the former leader of Iraq, for crimes against humanity.

His capture and execution is believed to be an act of retaliation for sentencing Hussein to death after the trial.

There was some controversy surrounding his ruling, because his home town had been the target of a poison gas attack allegedly ordered by Hussein.

According to a Jordanian member of parliament Khalil Attieh, he had tried to escape from Baghdad disguised as a dancer, but was unsuccessful.

He had also reportedly applied for asylum in the United Kingdom because he feared for his life, but those claims were denied by the Iraqi High Criminal Court Tribunal.
