Amazon.com is expected to launch a smartphone on Wednesday that may include a 3D screen visible without special glasses.

It’s the retailer’s latest attempt to exert its influence over the way consumers shop online.

A phone would be the third new device Amazon has introduced this year after its FireTV streaming video device and Dash grocery delivery wand.

It’s been reported in the United States that AT&T would exclusively carry the smartphone on its network, much the same way that iPhone did for several years after its launch.

Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos is set to launch the long-rumoured mobile device in Seattle, which is sure to face stiff competition from market leaders Samsung and Apple’s iPhone.
