beyond unstained wooden pallings
which pass as boundary dividings
between this my mother's property fence
and fence of a yellow house neighbours
grows broad leaf flax beyond wind blown ferns
flax stems pierce pale blue skies
a tui in flight alights upon black flax stems
drinks welcome nectar of tubular flax pod flowers
green flax blade leaves to gravity bends
light gleams upon bent over flax leaves
light reflects from wind whispered flax leaves
in still breeze of summer afternoon silences
a poet ponders what passes as wisdom reeds
in lands erecting materialism's sand castles...
flax stems black embrace beauty freedom breezes
capitalistics city bound build ill fated sand castles
without knowing greed's ill wind soon pin stings
in future days hoarders of stinging grey sand grains
