I sailed to a distant land,
Navigating by sextant, compass and charts.
For months the trip was planned,
To seek out unknown parts.
A crew of many were we,
Sailors both young and old.
Traveling o'er the sea,
We were adventurous and bold.
In this land, I met a stranger,
A fellow traveler on a bay.
He warmed me of the danger,
If too long, I chose to stay.
He said I would not come to harm,
In this place of faraway.
Because of its beauty, people with charm,
I'd think of reasons my leaving to delay.
He said, 'You'll end up like me, '
'Once a young sailor in distant land.
And now a stranger to the sea.'
Then he smiled and shook my hand.
'Ah, well you will have to choose,
As I once did, ' said he.
'A carefree land-locked life to loose,
Or become a stranger to the sea.'
