Aniruddha Pathak - The body’s when consumed by fire

2014-06-18 2

The mortal remains when bereft of cause
To be, the soul prepares higher to rise,
The mind concerned, re-lives the life that was,
And as be its wont in vain death defies:
Remember, Mind, all that ye did and not,
The soul seems to tell desperate a mind,
Remember all, forgetting none ye aught,
And be prepared to leave all things behind.

A rich fragrance as is wafting through air,
The body is while consumed by the fires,
The soul carries subtle memories bare,
The keenest of longings, deep-set desires,
As if to weave anew life’s warp and weft,
To labour all again whence it had left!
