Aniruddha Pathak - To live in lent amidst plenty

2014-06-18 2

O to live life of a modest man,
Plenty in place that money can,
Wanting little in a small den,
Dreaming of what no money can.
Hopes in heart, wish horses on leash,
Peace in soul, patience for God’s grace,
And prayers to lose bloated face,
That heaven-like seems modest niche.

Yet, to dream of such Spartan ease,
I aught ere cultivate content
That a rich feast looks life of lent,
And poverty begins to please.
But me mortal made with earth’s soil,
A paradise aught me ere spoil.
