Every avenue followed
Leads to a dead end
Every possibility assumed
Has been mistaken
Every idea shot down
With reality
Hope that is anything less
Isn't hope really
Closeness and tender words
Only politeness
Anymore to conclusions jump
Must be scandalous
Me the only guilty one
Can shoulder the blame
Either way doesn't matter
End result the same
Advantageous business sense
Head on straight
Build a solid future
Retirement will be great
But when too old to enjoy
Will the passion be missed
What part is given up
To achieve this
Plan for tomorrow
Always
But live for today
Early mornings alone
Could live differently
Priorities for the future
Should include the here and now
Should find my way to another play
